Nathalie Rose, also known as “TheWizardPoe” online, is a newer conceptual artist located in Des Moines, Iowa.
Rose graduated in the spring of 2022 from Grand View University, obtaining a BA in Studio Arts. Currently, Rose is studying for her Master’s Degree in Licensed Mental Health Counseling.
While much of her art is created through painting and drawing, she has also maintained a digital and traditional art commission practice since 2017.
About the Work
Rose's art can be found in a variety of mediums using topics such as mental health, politics, feminism, and her own personal experiences.
Through these topics Rose asks, “Does one ever truly belong?” To reflect the nature of these concepts, Rose's pieces are mostly done in paints, charcoal, and various other mixed media.

Artist Statement:
At our core, we all long to be seen, known, and claimed by the world around us.
From our very beginning, we are connected to others—and throughout life, we exist in a rich sea of relationships. What fascinates me most is how these connections shape who we are, both in the ways we relate to others and in how we understand ourselves.
From our very beginning, we are connected to others—and throughout life, we exist in a rich sea of relationships. What fascinates me most is how these connections shape who we are, both in the ways we relate to others and in how we understand ourselves.
My work is grounded in exploring the psychology of interpersonal and intrapersonal development, especially as it influences identity. I prefer to draw from lived experience—my own, and those shared with me by the close-knit communities I’m privileged to work with—because I believe the most meaningful insights come from real, human stories.
Through a variety of mediums, I create work that explore a variety of themes such as mental health, feminism, psychology, and overall identity. I use mostly bright colors and organic shapes—intentionally placed in contrast to the often rigid, stigmatized nature of the subjects I address. To emphasize the rawness and complexity of these messy human experiences, I primarily work with paint, charcoal, installation sculptures, digital formats, and other mixed media. Life is chaotic, layered, and rarely linear—and my art captures these feelings.
